Setting Up a Home or Small Office Network

The third option found under the Pick a Task listing in the Control Panel allows you to set up some of the basic things you can use in a small network, most of which you have already learned about in this chapter. Using this option, you can set up an Internet connection and firewall, as well as share files, folders, and printers.

Simply follow the directions the wizard presents, which will vary depending on the choices you make from one dialog box to the next. For example, you can use this wizard to set up the initial computer that will connect to the Internet, or you can use it to set up a computer for a client on your network who will use the Internet connection the other computer offers. This wizard can be considered a simple way to perform the other tasks we have discussed.
