Chapter 5. Configuring Accessibility Opt... > “Mouseing” Around with the Keyboard

“Mouseing” Around with the Keyboard

For those who would prefer to use the keyboard over a mouse or other pointing device, you can select the Mouse tab in the Accessibility Options property sheet to enable a feature called MouseKeys. MouseKeys allows you to use your keyboard's numeric keypad (typically to the right of the regular keyboard) to perform mouse movements. The numeric 8 key moves the mouse upward, whereas the numeric 2 key moves the mouse downward. In a similar manner, the numeric 4 key moves the mouse to the left, and the numeric 6 key moves the mouse to the right. Note that this does not apply to the numeric keys at the top of the keyboard.

As with other accessibility features, you can simply select the check box labeled “Use MouseKeys” and then click Settings to configure the MouseKeys to your preferences.
