How to Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk

In Windows 95/98/Me you can create an MS-DOS startup disk to assist you when you are troubleshooting serious problems on your computer. Windows NT and Windows 2000 didn't offer this capability, but it is back in Windows XP. Just use the following steps:

1.
Insert a floppy disk into the disk drive.

2.
Click on Start and then My Computer.

3.
Right-click on the floppy drive. From the menu presented, select Format.

4.
In the Format Options dialog box, select the check box Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk, as shown in Figure 13.6.

5.
Click Start to begin the formatting procedure. When the warning dialog box appears, click OK.
