How Do You Make a Movie?

Now that you understand the basic layout of the application screen, it is time to get down to the nitty-gritty and make a movie. The steps involved are simple. First, record some video and audio files!

Tip

When you import video or audio clips into your Collections area in Movie Maker, you may get an error message telling you that Movie Maker doesn't use that format. Near the end of this chapter, you will find a table that can be of some help in deciding what settings to use when creating video clips using programs other than Movie Maker. For example, your video capture card may come with its own software to create video files. Yet, if you do not select the right settings for such things as frames per second or pixel size, Movie Maker may just reject your file. Check the table at the end of this chapter to make sure your existing collection of files is suitable for Movie Maker. If not, most video software applications that come with video capture cards will allow you to convert files from one format to another if you chose settings incompatible with Movie Maker when you first captured the file.
