Understanding Network Installations

If you are planning on a fresh installation or upgrading your current computer's operating system and are connected to a network, then you need to understand how your computer participates in the network before you begin the installation or upgrade to Windows XP. If you operate a standalone system that isn't connected to a network (including the Internet), then you can skip this section.
