Part: V Appendices > Creating a Web Site

Creating a Web Site

When you install IIS, a default Web site is created for you and is ready for you to start building Web pages right after installation. You can use any tool you feel comfortable with, including Microsoft FrontPage, Office 2000 or XP, or just good old Notepad.

By default, the folder for your Web site is C:/Inetpub/wwwroot, and you can start creating Web pages right in this folder. Just name your home page Default.htm or Default.asp, and when someone browses to your site, that page loads automatically. Until you create your own home page, visitors to the site will get an Under Construction page.
