Chapter 15. Command-Line Applications and Application Suites

In This Chapter

In the last few chapters, we covered what you need to know to get around in the command line–based BSD environment. We also introduced you to the use of simple programs. In this chapter, we'll cover command-line programs with more complex interfaces. If you're from a Mac background, the previous chapter's small building block–type programs are probably a slightly foreign concept because most Mac applications have historically been self-contained. The Unix applications introduced in this chapter will be somewhat more familiar because they are more similar to the functionally complete programs you're used to.
