Hour 21. Using Media Player > The Media Library and Playlists

The Media Library and Playlists

To make access to your media files easier, click the Media Library button on the Windows Media Player. The Media Library button produces a tree-structured hierarchy of all your multimedia files, sorted by title, artist, album, or genre. The Media Manager, a database of multimedia content, keeps tabs on your Media Library of files. That way, when you perform a Start, Search, Files or Folders in Media Manager, you'll quickly locate a multimedia file because the Media Manager won't waste time looking where multimedia files are not located.

If you click the New Playlist button, you can name a new playlist, a list of tracks from one or more albums in your music library on your disk. Perhaps you want to create a playlist of your party favorites. Even though the Windows Media Player tracks your recorded CDs by artist, album, and track, your playlists can contain any track from any album on your disk.
