Part VI: Having Fun at Nighttime > Picturing Windows XP Graphics

Hour 22. Picturing Windows XP Graphics

Windows XP supports digital pictures better than any operating system that has come before it. You can capture, manipulate, and store digital versions of any picture. Although many graphics-related applications let you capture scanned and digital pictures, you no longer have to start your scanner's scanning application to store digital copies of your scanned images. Just make Windows XP do the work after you walk through a simple capture wizard that Windows XP produces.

In addition to capturing and storing images from a digital camera or scanner, you can grab images from Web pages as you surf using Internet Explorer's simple-to-use image toolbar.

In this hour, you will

  • Learn why digital images are so popular

  • Find uses for the My Pictures window

  • Capture digital images from your scanner or digital camera

  • Store images to your writeable CD drive

  • Send digital images over the Internet to be turned into printed photos

  • Use Internet Explorer's image toolbar to work with Web graphics
