Lesson 14. Using the Control Panel > Configuring Multimedia Devices

Configuring Multimedia Devices

With a sound card installed on your computer, you have the ability to record sounds, play music CDs, and control other audio devices you've installed. To configure your multimedia devices, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Settings, Control Panel from the Start menu.

  2. In the Control Panel, double-click the Sounds and Multimedia icon.

  3. The Sounds and Multimedia Properties dialog box appears. Click the Audio or the Hardware tab as follows:

    • Audio: Select your Preferred device for Playback and Recording and Midi Music Playback. Click Advanced Properties to set the performance for each. The advanced properties for the playback also let you specify your speaker setup.

    • Hardware: Displays a list of devices, their manufacturers' names, and the types of devices. To see more about each device or change the settings for devices, click the Properties button.

  4. Click OK to accept your settings and close the dialog box.
