Changing the Display in My Computer and Windows Explorer

As you learned in the preceding lesson, My Computer and Windows Explorer are remarkably similar. All the tasks you will learn in this and subsequent lessons can be performed in either program (unless noted). For simplicity, I will show only Explorer in the figures.

The main difference between the My Computer and Explorer displays is the presence of the All Folders list in Explorer (see Figure 11.1). You can easily remove this list, to provide more room for the file listing, by opening the View menu and selecting Explorer Bar and then selecting None. You can also simply click the Close button (the ×) at the top of the All Folders list.
