Using Shortcut Menus

As an alternative to using the menu bar or toolbars, you can issue commands to many Windows programs using a right-click method, which brings up a shortcut menu or context menu. With this method, you point to the item onscreen that is the object of your command—for instance, a highlighted sentence or a row of cells in a worksheet. You then right-click. If the program supports shortcut menus, one will pop up onscreen, as shown in Figure 5.3. From there, you can click a menu command to issue that command to the program or click outside the menu area to dismiss the menu.
