Understanding the Windows 98 Desktop

The Windows 98 Desktop appears when you start Windows. The Desktop holds objects, shown as icons, that you use to start applications; copy, move, and delete files; connect to the Internet; and perform other functions. The Classic Windows Desktop is shown in Figure 2.1. You'll learn how to use the Desktop components later in this lesson.
