Scanning Your Disk

Sometimes a file isn't stored to disk properly, and the computer loses part of it. This sometimes happens when a file is deleted, and the references to all the parts of the file aren't removed from the main file directory (File Allocation Table). In any case, it's a good idea to periodically check your hard disk for this type of error, and to let the computer fix the problems it finds.

To scan your hard disk for errors, follow these steps:
