Lesson 23. Disk Management > Backing Up Your Hard Disk

Backing Up Your Hard Disk

To protect your valuable data, it's best to make an extra copy of it. The easiest way to do so is to back up your files onto disk or tape. Then, if something happens to the original file, you can restore the backup copy onto your hard disk.

When you perform a backup, it's not necessary to back up every file on your hard disk. You should back up your document files and certain system files, but you don't need to back up program files, because they can be reinstalled if needed from their original installation disks.
