Changing the Properties of an Object

Changing the Properties of an Object

Every object under Windows 98 has its own properties—from folders to files to applications. These properties tell you what the object is and what it can do. You can view these properties at any time and change them as needed. Follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the icon for the object, or right-click its folder or filename.

  2. Select Properties from the shortcut menu that appears. The Properties dialog box, shown in Figure A.2, appears. Each Properties dialog box contains tabs that are unique to that object.

  3. Click the tab that contains the properties you want to view or change.

  4. Change whatever options you need to (you might need to consult the hardware manual), and then click Apply (if this button is provided in that particular Properties dialog box) to test your changes. Click OK when you're through.
