Uninstalling Applications

Applications, like the people we meet, fall into three categories: friends for life, acquaintances we deal with occasionally, and those we hope never to speak to again. Avoiding people we dislike is usually just a matter of avoiding contact with them—they'll get the hint after a while. Unlikable applications, however, just don't seem to get it. They keep hanging around like party guests who won't leave. If you have an application that's worn out its welcome, this section shows you the proper way to uninstall it so that it's out of your life forever.

Uninstalling 32-Bit Applications

One of the truly useful features you get with 32-bit Windows 98 logo-compliant applications is the ability to uninstall these programs easily. When you install one of these programs, it adds a new subkey to the following Registry key:
