Installing Applications

Let's now turn our attention to the three main types of applications you might need to install: 32-bit applications, 16-bit applications, and DOS applications. The next few sections discuss the installation issues involved with each type of application, as well as approaches that work best with each type.

Installing 32-Bit Applications

There are plenty of reasons to use 32-bit applications under Windows 98, including long filename support, preemptive multitasking, and protected memory space. Here are two more to add to the list: a standard installation procedure that's easy to use and the ability to uninstall applications.
