Direct Cable Connection and the Briefcase

I showed you how to use Windows 98's Briefcase feature earlier in this chapter. You saw how Briefcase took most of the guesswork out of synchronizing files between a desktop and notebook computer. However, you still had to face the drudgery of moving the Briefcase between machines via floppy disk.

To avoid this “sneakernet” situation, you can use Direct Cable Connection to transfer the files back and forth between the machines using a single Briefcase folder. Here's a rundown of the basic Briefcase procedure from a Direct Cable Connection point of view:
