12.4. OmniWeb Hints

The Omni Group, creator of OmniWeb, has been programming for Mac OS X for years—even before there was a Mac OS X. That's because the company developed OmniWeb for the NeXT operating system, on which Mac OS X was eventually based.

OmniWeb is a Cocoa program, so it automatically includes all the nice features like system services, a customizable toolbar, and spell checking that are typical of programs like Mail and TextEdit. In addition, OmniWeb is based on Apple's own Web Core, the same display engine that powers Safari. Many of the features you know and love from Safari, therefore, are automatically available in OmniWeb.
