Chapter 17. Hacking Mac OS X > Replacing Your Home-Folder Icon

17.4. Replacing Your Home-Folder Icon

The icon Mac OS X uses for your Home folder looks like a fairy tale cottage: one door, one chimney, one window. That's great for the masses, but if it strikes you as too much of a sissy house, you can substitute a graphic that suits you better: Trump Tower, a cave mouth, prison bars...

The file to edit is in the System→Library→CoreServices→SystemIcons.bundle→ Contents→Resources folder; it's called SystemIcons.rsrc.
