10.2. Hide shared resources when you're online

Just connecting to the Internet poses some security risk for your system, but having your shared resources (folders and printers) visible on the Internet can be a major security problem. Hackers and intrusion programs can take advantage of your shared resources to gain access to your data and wreak havoc with your system. Making your shared resources invisible to the Internet is therefore an important step in securing your system from intrusion and damage.

10.2.1. Remove File and Printer Sharing service from a dial-up connection

If you're connecting to the Internet through an Internet service provider (ISP), you probably don't need the File and Printer Sharing service enabled under the dial-up connection. You can disable it for the dial-up connection. Here's how:
