12.13. How (and why) to rename the Administrator account

Any hacker or intruder knows that on Windows 2000 systems the Administrator account gives him full access to the system if he can just guess, hack, or steal the password. Knowing the account name is a big step to breaking in, so changing the name of the Administrator account—particularly to something relatively cryptic—can go a long way toward keeping unwanted "visitors" out of your system.

Changing the Administrator account name is relatively easy. However, you should change it to something that you can remember, since you will have no other way to determine a forgotten account name unless you have another account on the system that is a member of the Administrator's group.
