Chapter 5. Organizing Files and Folders > Copying Files and Folders to CDs

Copying Files and Folders to CDs

If your PC has a recordable (CD-R) or rewritable (CD-RW) CD drive, Windows lets you copy—or burn—files or folders to a recordable CD without the need for third-party software. CDs are excellent for backing up files (they’re durable, capacious, and inexpensive) or for exchanging files with Unix and Mac users (CDs are cross-platform).

This section talks about copying data files to CDs. To burn music CDs, use Windows Media Player. See “Burning Music CDs” in Chapter 10.
