Lesson 7. Set Up Printing and Faxing > To print to a shared printer

To print to a shared printer

1.
The Mac that is directly connected to the shared printer must be turned on. The printer must be turned on.

2.
On your other Mac, open your document. Press Command P to get the Print dialog box.

In the Printer menu, as shown below, choose the shared printer by name.

If you don't see the printer in that list, look for it in the “Shared Printers” submenu.

If it's not there, click the “Add Printer…” option and choose the printer.

Once you have added it, that printer will be in your Print dialog box whenever that printer and its Mac are turned on.

4.
After you choose the shared printer, click the “Print” button.
