Turn VoiceOver on or off

I wish I could say this chapter is a complete study in VoiceOver, but the software is so amazing and rich and deep that all I can do here is get you started. The Help files are quite extensive and I encourage you to explore further with those (see the opposite page). Someone needs to write a book about VoiceOver.

  • To turn on VoiceOver, press Command F5 (the Fkey, not the characters F and 5).

  • To turn off VoiceOver, press Command F5.

Or from the Apple menu, choose “System Preferences…,” and then choose “Universal Access.” Click the button to turn VoiceOver on (or off). You'll also see a button that opens the VoiceOver Utility, described on pages 394395.
