Email notification

If someone sends you an email invitation to an event, Mail can automatically put a notification in iCal. First you must make sure this option is turned on in the Preferences.

1.
In iCal, go to the iCal menu and choose “Preferences….”

2.
Click the “Advanced” icon. Make sure there is a checkmark next to “Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail.” Close the Preferences.

3.
When you get an email message from someone inviting you to an iCal event, the Notifications box appears in the bottom-left corner of iCal.

If the box isn't showing and you want to see it, single-click the Notifications button, as shown below.

4.
When a notification comes in, click on it. The Info window will open. In the Info window:

To choose a reply, single-click on the “my status” pop-up menu.

To choose a calendar in which you want this event to appear, click on the “calendar” pop-up menu.

To choose an alarm to remind you of the upcoming event, click on the “alarm” pop-up menu.
