To set up a user with Simple Finder

1.
Go to the Apple menu and choose “System Preferences….” Single-click the “Accounts” icon.

If the lock icon in the bottom-left corner is locked, single-click on it and enter the Admin name and password. Click OK.

Select the user in the left-hand pane (if you haven't made a user yet, see pages 238243 to set one up).

Single-click the “Parental Controls” tab.

Put a check next to “Finder.app & System.” Then single-click its “Configure” button. The pane shown on the following page drops down.

Click the button for “Simple Finder.”

7.
Click the “Applications” checkbox to select everything in the listed folder. Every checked item will be available to the user in Simple Finder.

To deselect some applications, click the small disclosure triangle next to “Applications” to see a list of the applications, each with its own checkbox. Uncheck a box to deselect an item.

Click OK when you're done.
