Previewing Documents

The Print dialog enables you to create and view previews of your documents. You might want to use this feature to check the appearance of a document before printing it.

To preview a document

1.
Set options as desired in the Print dialog’s panes.

In any pane of the Print dialog (Figure 36), click the Preview button. The Print dialog disappears and Mac OS opens Preview. A moment later, the document appears in a Preview window (Figure 63).

When you’re finished previewing the document, you have three options:

  • Choose File > Print, press , or click the Print button at the bottom of the Preview window (Figure 63) to display the Print dialog and print the document from Preview.

  • Choose File > Save As or press to display a Save dialog (Figure 64) and save the document as a PDF or graphic format file from within Preview.

  • Choose Preview > Quit Preview or press to quit Preview and return to the original document.
