SYSTEM PREFERENCES SUPER-SPEED SHORTCUT

This is a great Tiger tip, because once you learn it, it saves time every day. Back in Panther, you could type the first few letters of a System Preferences icon you were looking for and go directly to that pane. Well, it's a little different in Tiger—now you have options. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu, type the first few letters of the preference you're looking for, and Spotlight will automatically point you in the right direction. A pop-up menu will appear showing the preferences that match the word you entered. Now use the Up and Down Arrow keys on your keyboard to choose your preference from the menu. When you see the preference you want, just press Return to instantly open that pane.
