Cool & the Gang: way cool tips > GET THE FULL DASHBOARD WEATHER EXPERIENCE

GET THE FULL DASHBOARD WEATHER EXPERIENCE

If you've used the Dashboard Weather widget, you've probably already noticed that Apple went to great lengths to design some really cool-looking visuals to let you know in a split second what the weather condition is for the city you're monitoring (including whether it's currently day or night in that city, and it shows the current phase of the moon). But if you live someplace that doesn't get much variation in its weather (for example, I live in Tampa Bay, which means I only see basically sun and thunderstorms), you don't get the full Dashboard weather experience (which includes things like snow, ice, hail, locust plague, etc.). But you don't have to pack up the family and move to Ottawa. Instead, you can have the Weather widget cycle through all its different weather graphics by holding the Option and Command keys, and then just clicking on the Weather widget (avoiding the city's name, as that will launch your Web browser showing more weather details). This takes you to a hypothetical town called “Nowhere,” which apparently experiences a new weather phenomenon with every Command-Option-click (much like Seattle).
