Customizing the Start Menu

The Start menu’s Windows components and its overall behavior are as easy to customize as the Programs lists. You can, for example, substitute any other name for My Computer. You can decide what your Start menu displays or doesn’t, choose highlighting for recently installed programs, and generally make your computer PC (Personal and Convenient).

To rename a Start-menu item:

1.
Right-click any menu item; then choose Rename.

2.
Type a new name or edit the existing one; then press Enter (Figure 2.19).
