Changing Styles Mid-Sentence—without using the menu

As explained on page 202 about changing fonts, you can just as easily choose the style you want from the menu before you type the text (as long as you don’t move the insertion point after choosing). But even that’s a pain if you just want to italicize the next word and then return to normal text. This is an easier method:

Notice the keyboard shortcuts in the menu shown below? In most applications they are the same: Command B for Bold, Command I for Italic, etc. (Some programs may use Command Shift B and Command Shift I, etc.)
