Using a Browser

The browser, as you’ve learned, is the software that displays web pages on your screen. You enter the address of a web page in the browser, you use search tools through your browser, you watch movies and hear music through your browser, you can print from your browser, and on and on. So it’s important to know how to use it. The Help files are usually very good—while you’re in your browser, go to the Help menu and choose the command for your application. Right now I’m just going to give you some basic tips that will get you started right away.

Enter a web address

To enter a web address, type it into the “Address,” “Location,” or “Go To” box (or it might be called something else) at the top of the window, in the toolbar. After you type it in, hit Return or Enter to tell the browser to go find that page. Notice carefully in the illustrations below where the Address bar is located!
