Disk Copy

Disk Copy is a utility that will open itself up and do what it needs to do when it needs to; you don’t have to go get it. Disk Copy works with “disk images,” which are like pretend hard disks that store compressed data. Disk images typically have an extension of .img or .dmg—double-click one and it will open Disk Copy, extract itself, and create an icon of a disk on your Mac, from which you can install files. See Chapter 21 for information on disk images and how to work with them. You can also use Disk Copy to create your own disk images, a convenient way to store or share files.
