One of the first sets of preferences you might want to customize are the Mouse preferences (if you have a laptop with a trackpad instead of a mouse, see the following page). You’ll read about all the preference panes in Chapter 22, but this one is simple to use and shows you how easy it is to customize many of the features on your Mac, so take a look at it as soon as you feel comfortable using the mouse and pulling down menus. If you are brand-new to your Mac, come back to this page in a couple of days.
