Chapter 6. How to Use the Windows

A window is a basic, fundamental element of the Macintosh.

When you open any folder or disk, including your hard disk, the Mac displays the contents of the folder in a Finder window.

When you open an application, such as a word processor, database, or spreadsheet, the Mac gives you a document window in which to type a letter, work with a database, or create a spreadsheet.
