Templates and Stationery

Another way to make several versions of the same letter, or to keep a master copy of your newsletter or budget report, etc., is to make a template or stationery pad of the document. Once you turn a document into a template, the original file doesn’t open anymore—when you open the template you get a brand new, untitled copy of the original. (Well, you can open the original file if you need to; see the note on the opposite page.)

Depending on your project, you might want to make a copy of the original, then turn the copy into a template.
