Restart

Restart does exactly that: it restarts your Mac, but without turning the power off. It’s sort of like turning your Mac off and then turning it back on again, but without the stress of powering completely down and up. You occasionally have to restart after installing some software. And sometimes when things are just acting goofy, Restart can clear up the problem.

You can choose “Restart” from the Apple menu, obviously, but occasionally your Mac is acting so weird you can’t get to the Apple menu. So there are several other ways to Restart, depending on what kind of Mac you have.
