Finder Windows

Finder windows are those windows that open to display the contents of folders or disks, including your hard disk.

The Macintosh allows you a great deal of control over the look and the feel of your computer and the options available so you can arrange your work and your working environment in a way that is most effective for you. The Finder windows are a good example of the control you have on the Mac—you can choose to display what’s in your window in a variety of ways, all appropriate for different purposes or styles; you can organize the windows any way you like; and you can customize the window Toolbar for your convenience. You can even change the color or add a picture to the background of a window, which might help you organize certain projects or recognize important folders.
