Chapter 10. How to Use Folders > Putting Something inside a Folder

Putting Something inside a Folder

To put something inside a folder, press-and-drag any file icon (except a disk) over to the folder; when the folder changes color (highlights), let go and the file will drop inside. This moves the file from one place to another. Remember, it is the very tip of the pointer that selects the folder, not the shadow of the icon that goes inside.

You can have folders inside of folders inside of folders, which is technically called the Hierarchical File System (HFS). You can drag an item from one window and put it into a folder in another window.
