Creating a New Folder

It’s easy to create your own new, empty folder.

1.
If you want the new folder to sit directly on the Desktop (not in another window), first click on the Desktop.

In Icon View or List View, make sure the window in which you want a new folder is active (click on it).

In Column View, it’s a little tricky to select the proper column; see the illustrations and captions below.

Once the proper location is selected, from the File menu, choose “New Folder,” or use the keyboard shortcut, Command Shift N.

A new, “untitled folder” will appear in the active window, as shown below. See the opposite page on how to name it.


This is the new folder in Icon View, ready for you to name it.



This is the new folder in Column View, ready for you to name it.
