Quick-and-Easy Search

To do a quick-and-easy search, follow these two steps:

1.
Your Mac will search in whichever window you have open at the moment. For instance, in the example below, the search will take place only in my Home window, “robin.” It will search every folder in this Home window, as well as all folders inside any of those folders.

To search your entire computer, click the “Computer” icon in the Toolbar.

To search a particular folder within a window, click once on the folder (you don’t have to open it); the Mac will search that folder and every folder that’s stored inside of it.

2.
Type the name of the file you’re looking for into the Search box, then hit Return or Enter.



3.
Search will open a window displaying the results of what it found, as shown and explained on the following page.


To run the same search again (even if something else is typed in the Search box), click this arrow button.
