Chapter 18. Ejecting Disks > Media Eject Key

Media Eject Key

Some keyboards have a Media Eject key. If you have it, it’s in the upper-right of the keyboard, the most upper-right key there is at the top of the numeric keypad. It has the symbol shown to the left. The great thing about this key is that you don’t have to select the disk—just hit the key and the CD or DVD will eject. In fact, you don’t even have to be at the Desktop—you can hit the Media Eject key while you’re working in another OS X application and the disk will eject. Just make sure you first close any documents and quit any applications that opened documents from that CD before you eject the disk.

This is the symbol for the Media Eject key, if you have one on your keyboard.
