Mail

With Mail you can send and receive email. You don’t have to have a .Mac account to use it—you can use your existing email account from anywhere (except AOL). The Address Book is used in conjunction with Mail.

If you have more than one email account, Mail can check them all at once and send mail back out from each account, even if your accounts are on different servers. You can create “rules” that let you filter messages into different mailboxes; for instance, perhaps you want all email from “John” to go into a mailbox named “My LoverMan” so it doesn’t get mixed in with the business mail. Or maybe you want all email with the word “free,” “enlargement,” or “mortgage” in its subject to go straight to the trash. And best of all, Mail has a really great junk mail filter that lets hardly any junk into your mailbox at all! See Chapter 32 for all the details.
