CPU Monitor

CPU Monitor is an application that provides information about CPU (central processing unit) activity, in graphical format. This information may be helpful when performing intensive operations that require a great deal of CPU resources, such as rendering graphics and compressing video.

To monitor your CPU’s activity

1.
Open the CPU Monitor icon in the Utilities folder (Figure 1).

2.
One or more of the three CPU Monitor windows (Figures 25 through 27) should appear; if not, choose the one you want from the Processes menu (Figure 28).

Figure 25. CPU Monitor’s standard window displays a blue graphic to indicate CPU activity.

Figure 26. The floating window first appears in the lower-left corner of the screen, but can be moved. It displays CPU activity with a green graphic.

Figure 27. The expanded window uses multiple colors to display CPU activity.
