Chapter 6. AppleScript Basics > Scripting the Finder

Scripting the Finder

If any one application is more powerful in combination with AppleScript than the Finder, I’m at a loss to name it. We all know the Finder intimately, although we don’t usually think of it as being an application in the normal sense. But the Finder is really just another application, as far as the Mac is concerned. It is, in fact, an extremely scriptable application.

This part of the chapter provides examples of how you can script the Finder to perform basic tasks. These examples should give you an idea of the kinds of things you can do with AppleScript and a little scripting know-how.
