The Dock

The most noticeable feature of the Mac OS X user interface is the Dock, a bar found at the bottom of the screen (by default but it can be moved) that holds application aliases, making it easy to find, start, and switch between your favorite applications (Figure 6.5).

Figure 6.5. The Dock is the first thing most Windows users notice about the Mac desktop. It provides fast access to applications and important places like your home and Applications folders.
