What Are Those Connectors on the Back of My Mac?

Here’s a tour of those ports—many of which are similar to PC ports—using an iMac as the example. On the back of the iMac you will find the following, from left to right (Figure 5.2):

Figure 5.2. The iMac sports several ports to let it connect to peripherals, networks, and power supplies. These are the same ports you will find—someplace—on all current Macs. From left to right: headphone jack, speaker jack, two FireWire ports, an Ethernet port, power jack, modem port, three USB ports, VGA video out port, and the power switch.
