Chapter 30. Windows Control Panel

Like the cockpit of an airplane, the Windows Control Panel is your PC's control center. It's the place where you add new users for your PC, adjust your settings, remove programs, and change your time zone, among many other options.

Like most everything else in Windows XP, you'll find the Control Panel in the Start menu. By default, Windows XP shows the Control Panel organized by category. This makes more sense than in previous versions of Windows when it was organized by specific function, but if you're an old Windows hand, then you may want to click Switch to Classic View in the upper left-hand corner.
